In SC (A minor) v University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (2020) 1445 (QB) the court had to determine whether it was fair for a clinical negligence trial to proceed remotely. The judge hearing the application recognised that conducting the trial in that way meant that the parties, their solicitors and counsel, the lay and expert witnesses, and the judge, would all be in different physical location. None of them would be in a courtroom.
